A beneficial initiative is underway in Technopark to extend the existing Theewaterskloof irrigation water pipeline. Improving the irrigation water supply will enhance the greenery and sustainability of the business park – for the benefit of both the environment, and the community.

The project scope

The irrigation project involves extending the pipeline from the Theewaterskloof irrigation water supply along Techno Avenue and around the old dam, integrating modern infrastructure with the park’s existing features. This well thought-out design ensures efficient irrigation water distribution to support new and existing landscapes within Technopark.

A project of this scale includes several phases, from planning and design to procurement and construction. The estimated construction period of three months is scheduled for completion at the end of July 2024.

Benefits of the irrigation project

The extension of the pipeline provides a much needed irrigation water supply for the landscapes within Technopark. This will enhance the park’s visual appeal and create an even more welcoming environment for employees, visitors and wildlife.

The existing irrigation pipeline contains points that supply irrigation water to the fynbos garden, while the expansion of this line will see to the entrance road and other areas around the dam.

Improvements through the years

Ruaan Siebrits (of UDS Africa) is the dedicated engineer on this project and has recently completed work on several residential and commercial developments. He has been involved with the repair work on the pipeline since its activation in May 2022. Siebrits says, seeing the landscape across from the Protea Hotel flourish since the pipeline’s activation, has been a highlight.

This forward-thinking initiative promises to transform Technopark’s green spaces. For any enquiries, please contact Ruaan from UDS Africa on 021 880 0443.
